Master Bath Renovation - Week 1
Our master bathroom is old. Almost 20 years old to be exact. While the colors were neutral, the striped wallpaper and gold accents have filled their duty and it was time for them to go.
For years, we've talked about renovating. We've gotten bids. Then we've done nothing. But this past week, our time came!
I emptied the bathroom of all its clutter and decor. The kids peel off loose pieces of wallpaper. And last Monday, the demolition began!
Here are a few before pictures (Due to the light from the windows, you can't fully experience the striped wallpaper. My apologies!)
The new bathroom will still be very neutral. White subway tile with gray grout. A 2" hexagon tile on the floor. Carrara Marble in the shower niche for our soap and shampoo.
I pulled together a few inspiration pictures to help share my vision...
We wavered back and forth on adding shiplap to the walls. And after much discussion and deliberation, we says yes to shiplap.
By the end of day one, this is what the bathroom looked like...
It amazed me how quickly the room got emptied!
It was pretty much a gutted shell of a bathroom, with the exception of the two shower walls.
By the end of day two, they had built a new tub surround (we're getting an oval soaker tub instead of a corner jetted tub). The shower was also made a bit deeper.
And the dumpster out front, is full of the remnants of our old bathroom.
The builder should be here again tomorrow. They'll be putting up shiplap as well as delivering the bathroom cabinets!
I'll post another update at the end of the week.
Thanks for following along!
