Powder Room Walls - One Room Challenge Week 2
It's week 2 of the One Room Challenge. And things are progressing in our powder room! This week was all about the walls.
As you may recall from last week, the bathroom had wallpaper when we purchased the house.
Seven years ago, we stripped off the wallpaper, which left the walls with no texture. So I decided to add some wall texture to help disguise the repairs I had to do this week.
I used the wall texture pictured below. Like most home projects, something that seemed simple involved three trips to Home Depot! First, I didn't buy enough bottles. Then I bought the wrong kind! By the third trip, I had all that I needed.
When I was spaying the walls, the fumes were out of control! This stuff is potent. I gave myself regular breaks for fresh air because I kept getting light headed! {And yes, I was wearing a mask}
The ceiling hadn't been painted since the house was built in 1997, so I gave it a fresh coat of white too. Painting ceilings can be a really messy job. So....{prepare yourself for a vulnerable moment}, I had to dress the part.
I didn't want to ruin one of my hats.....so I found the next best thing....a shower cap! And after getting paint splattered in my eyes, I decided I needed some protective eyewear too. Not my best look, but it did the job.
I didn't realize how much the ceiling needed to be painted!
Here is my color selection for the walls.....
After a few hours of painting, I completed the ceiling and walls! The bathroom is a blank slate right now. I can't wait to bring some life to the room!
Make sure you come back next week for another progress update!
