The Perfect {Barely There} Gray
I've been searching for the perfect gray.
My first purchase was of Benjamin Moore's Gray Owl. I've seen it several places online and I was excited to give it a try.
Cozy.Cottage.Cute used Gray Owl and lightened it by 50%.
I tried that color sample too.
That colored looked PERFECT on my computer. I don't know if it's my eyes, or the lighting in my house, but my Gray Owl did NOT look like that in my house! I first sampled Home Depot's mix of the color. After finding the color a bit too green for me {yes, green!}, I went to Benjamin Moore. Their color sample was the same! It did not look like the color above.
I sampled many, many colors. The picture below is simply a small representation....
Through the process, I realized that I was looking for a 'barely there' gray. Not a deep, solid, rich gray that you may paint the outside of a house. But a nice subtle, almost-white-with-a-bit-of-gray type of gray.
Finally - yes finally - I found it! It took some perseverance, but I did it.
Benjamin Moore's Shoreline looked great in my house. Just a touch of gray. Not too green. Not too blue. Just right.
So I painted Emmie's room painted last week. While I don't have any pictures to share of her room yet, here is a nursery I came across on Houzz that used BM Shoreline...
I love it!
It took me awhile, but I persevered and found my perfect gray!
There is still plenty to be done in Emmie's room. So stay tuned for progress pictures in the future!
